SolderSense is a mixed-reality learning experience designed to teach the fundamentals of soldering through a guided, tutorial-based workflow. Users can practice essential techniques step by step in an immersive environment that blends real-world interaction with digital instruction.
The core technical highlight of the project is the implementation of the soldering iron as a virtual overlay mapped onto the Logitech MX Ink stylus for Meta Quest 3. This mapping enables precise, natural interaction and closely mirrors the feel and ergonomics of real soldering. The experience is guided by a professional voiceover recorded by Anthony Vitillo.
The project was developed in under 70 hours as part of the Education Track by Meta at the XR Creator Con (XRCC) hackathon, where it was awarded 2nd place.
